Quotes to Think About

A simple post today. With the many thoughts of the various military actions, possible future ones, and all the hubbub about the "American Society" today, perhaps these following quotes will put a little different perspective on things.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

"Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me.'"

"Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship." **George Orwell**

"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't."

"Watch what people are cynical about, and one can often discover what they lack."

"Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom."

"It is only by doing things others have not that one can advance."

"Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory."

"A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood." **George Patton**

"A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be temped to risk his own destruction."

"When you appeal to force, there's one thing you must never do - lose."

"Every step we take towards making the State our Caretaker of our lives, by that much we move toward making the State our Master."

"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."

"From this day forward, the millions of our schoolchildren will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty." **Dwight Eisenhower**

"Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence."

"You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream -- the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order -- or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism."

"The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the states, and too much liberty with the Constitution."

"I think the best possible social program is a job."

"Nations crumble from within when the citizenry asks of government those things which the citizenry might better provide for itself."

"As government expands, liberty contracts."

"There are some who've forgotten why we have a military. It's not to promote war; it's to be prepared for peace." **Ronald Reagan**

Carnivore.
